Chapter 1: Starless Nights

"The stars are what represent life.
When a star fades, a life ends.
When a star is born, life begins."

-Chaonen Asia (Final Fantasy IX: Summoners' Nightmare)-

=Chapter 3=

Prelude:

It is ten years After Ultimecia (AU). Grudges between Galbadia and Balamb still exist. Countries can hardly trust eachother anymore. Scarlet Garden has been formulated, and the new space station, Ragnarok has launched.
In this day and age, the technology in survaillence have skyrocketed to a point in which privacy is at risk. Crime, being at an all time low ten years ago, has gradually increased around city areas, such as Galbadia, and Esthar. Though, through this negativity of adapting to the new world, the positives out-do the negatives...
A new Garden has been formed to ensure education in another part of the world. The Dyce-net, developed by Dyce Corporations in Timber, is well known for gaming, socialization, and educational purposes throughout the world.

This is our world. Treat it kindly.

Chapter 3.1
Discovery

It seems that those missing individuals in the Fisherman's Horizon area have still not been found. Esthar experts have found nothing on the situation, but will remain at Fisherman's Horizon for further studies.
Scarlet Garden News:
Instructor Delad, head of the medical department, was found dead by Scarlet's cafeteria. It appears he was shot through the head by some sort of rifle, stated by Medic, Xaio Pacific. Fingers point towards Maui Nurai, a student who has been suffering from mental illness for most of his life. According to one of the higher guards of Scarlet, Maui owns a rifle, and the bullet found in Delad's head matches the rifle's caliber.
Later on, in that same week, Headmaster Scarlet's office mysteriously exploded when Maui was called up for an interrogation. This event furthers Maui's blame for killing Instructor Delad. Only two guards were killed in this incident, Headmaster Scarlet only suffered minor bruises.
Garden Party:
Smoothly thought out by the new Medical Instructor, Zelias, who participated as the party's DJ. Near the middle of the party, an unexpected blare of gunfire filled the party, striking only a glass of soda in Xaio's hand. No witnesses can tell who actually fired the gun, but Disciplinary commander, Fritz Lanford was spotted with gun in hand. He was later arres8ted, and currently in suspension. Atlus Vista bravely attempted to take down the gunman, but security guards haulted her attempt because the fear of her getting shot was revelant.

Chapter 3.2
Pierce the Skin

Xaio Pacific and Tess Lanford secretly organized a plan to free the innocent Fritz Lanford. Though, it wasn't by choice for Xaio. Tess had blackmailed him to do it because she had photos of Xaio in his boxers when some chemicals burned away his pants. The plan was unsuccessful, when the security guard, Barney found out that Fritz was missing. He shot out the door and began to open fire on the three while they were on their way out. Unfortunately, Barney was loaded with real bullets, a newbie mistake for a Garden security guard. He struck Xaio across the arm three times.
Tess, Fritz, and Xaio made it to the lobby, but were surrounded by more guards. Then suddenly, from out of nowhere Maui pulled the trigger to his handgun, striking down two guards. This gave Tess and company time to get out of there. Maui admitted that he was the one that fired the gun at the Garden party upon surrendering.
FIREDRILL!
According to Scarlet Garden's surveillance and security teams, that firedrill a few weeks ago was no ordinary firedrill. Apparently, three armed men breeched the Garden and broke Maui Nurai free from the holding chambers, dissapearing without any knowledge of where they went. Though, one person in the Garden does know where Maui went, and she may never tell.

Chapter 3.3
Boring days, Starlit Nights, and Hard Classes

A week worth of hard classes, boring huh? Somewhat, but the students are starting to learn. Though, just recently, Maui Nurai (The clynically insane person who was missing for quite awhile) showed up in the Garden, specifically in Instructor Teira Katharsis' Intelligence and Firearms class. He weilded a pistol, trained at the students in the class, demanding that he see Xaio Pacific, another student that was not present in the class. Though, something horrible happened, the students decided to act on their own to take out the threat, disregarding what they have learned thus far on how to handle hostage situations. In the end, two students were severely injured. Miss Scarlet, the Headmistress of Scarlet Garden, was appauled by the behavior of her students in the class room, and felt ever-so sorry for Instructor Katharsis, this day being her first day teaching. Proper punishments will be executed to the students attending that classroom. --Later that night, Maui Nurai and Instructor Ensor had a private encounter on the roof of the Garden. Nobody knows exactly what happened up there, but Instructor Ensor was found on the lower levels, bruised, battered, and unconscious. A few students happened to find Ensor a few moments after what had happened, and they proceeded to take down Maui off the roof. A dramatic event indeed, the Garden members attempted to kill Maui. In conclusion, Maui Nurai fell off the Garden into the dark misty ocean below, leaving us unaware of his survival. What was Maui's intension? What was he doing at the Garden? What did Xaio Pacific have that Maui wanted? What did Maui mean by, "Dissapear" ? Things have calmed down in the garden after the events ensued by Maui Nurai. Instructors are now being more serious with the work that has to be done in order to ensure SeeD knowledge for the students. The first SeeD exam has passed, and another will be distributed soon enough. So study.

Chapter 3.4
The Waltz

A normal week of classes followed that incident, but something did come along the way. SeeDs were sent to Fisherman's Horizon to observe and collect data on the whereabouts of those, 'missing' but apparently, Headmistress Scarlet received word that her own SeeDs were, 'missing'. Objectively, Scarlet took it upon herself to go investigate along with the aide of Norris Azadros' Esthar task force. Unsuccessful, Scarlet returned to the Garden after a mechanical failure with the aircraft she was stationed on.
Shortly after that incident, Xaio Pacific was on his way to Galbadia garden when his train suddenly de-railed and crashed inside the underwater tunnel in between Balamb and Timber. Naiya Lynn, and Beatrice Othella Capulet heard of the news indirectly from Xaio's cell phone, and reported the tragic event to Headmistress Scarlet. Scarlet sent her final squad of SeeDs to investigate, and rescue any victims. Naiya and Beatrice went along with the SeeDs to provide support. Three persons were pulled from the flooding train. The first squad of SeeDs were reported to be trapped within the train when the pressure buckled the train, killing them, along with Naiya, Beatrice, and Xaio. Mysteriously, Naiya, Beatrice, and Xaio were found inside and outside the Garden soon after the incident.
According to Scarlet's Astrologists, Stars in the heavens have been, 'missing'
The Garden formal took place on December 15th. Though, two students suddenly collapsed and died that night, inside the formal. The cause of death is unknown, according to Scarlet's doctors.
Most recently, there was an accident during Instructor Tiera Katharsis' class this week. When Instructor Dylan East took her students to field training in the Training Center, Naiya Lynn accidentally pulled the trigger to her handgun when former student, Beatrice Othella Capulet walked in the way. Beatrice suffered major damage in in her lower torso, but it said to be recovering in the Garden's medical center.

Chapter 3.5
Torn

Just when things were getting better, they shifted for the worse. The forensics instructor, Hallie Nurai, infiltrated the medical center and show the nurse, Naomi Azla (Xaio's cousin) and Beatrice Othella Capulet, Dead. The efforts of the medical team and Xaio Pacific did not succeed in saving anyone's life. Hallie shortly dissapeared after the incident. That night, it began to snow for the first time.
Later on the the weeks, around Mog-mas. The Balamb-Bamb Gang visited the Garden, picking a fight with a few students in the gym. The fight was un-fair and Instructor Ensor came and broke up the fight by killing two of the gang members with a double barreled shot-gun.
Under secrecy, Maui Nurai has been seeing Rena Lanford lately. His visits trouble her friends and family. According to medical students, Tess Lanford was severely beaten by Maui Nurai. She recovered with the help of Leo Zweiber's visits.
It appears that Norris was banned from the garden after a slight brawl occured near the front of the Garden between himself, Instructor Suriel, Headmistress Scarlet, and the Headmistress' assistant, Altair. Norris left for Balamb after being wounded by both Suriel and Scarlet.
Most recently, a fight broke out between Maui, and Hallie Nurai in front of the Garden. The fight was brutal, and a student, Scott M was slightly injured by Hallie. The fight ended when Hallie impaled Maui through the side with a pike, and when Instructor Ensor abruptly shot Hallie a few times with his shotgun. Headmistress Scarlet questioned Ensor's reasons, and he replied by stating that shooting her was not enough in a panicked voice. Maui was pried off of the pike with the help of Instructor Ensor. Hallie Nurai myteriously vanished. Instructor Katharsis helped Maui Nurai to the medical center to be treated for serious injury. Strange... someone helping a murderer. (Or so it seems.)

Chapter 3.6
Rewards and Punishments

Congradulations to the new SeeDs! Now, Scarlet Garden is on standy, just about ready to start off to tour the world, doing SeeD missions. Headmistress Scarlet's secretary, Altair Sunada has been in quite an emotional dilemna lately, mainly because her ex-husband kidnapped her two children, Agrias and Caliga. Instructor Ensor went to investigate, only getting wounded in the process by Altair's ex-husband. Ever since that fight between Maui and Hallie Nurai, things have been quiet...a bit too quiet. During the blackout on the 12th of January, Headmistress Scarlet found Maui Nurai inside of Rena Lanford's dorm room. A small brawl brokeout, many insults tossed around, and three bullets through Maui's body. Maui said he would leave the Garden for now. Mathis Vinser is to be kicked out of the Garden. All non-Scarlet personnel are not permitted within Scarlet Garden.

Chapter 3.7
A Call of Duty

The first SeeD mission to Dollet was a success. Our mission objectives were to help fight off this dark power from the city from harming anyone else. Though, many died, but our true objective was to bring Maui Nurai back to the garden for further interrogations.
Instructor Katharsis, and Headmistress Scarlet's assistant, Altair Sunada, interrogated Maui Nurai. He physically harmed Altair when Rena was mentioned. Maui claims that Rena Lanford is his medicine. With the help of Katharsis, Altair was able to retreive Rena from her dorm room, and bring her down to the interrogation room, where Maui somewhat came to his senses. Rena Lanford showed fear towards Maui, making him feel uneasy. He eventually walked over to her, and kissed her. Aeran Bandwin, Rena's current boyfriend, stumbled into the interrogation room to catch the kiss. Infuriated, he stabbed Maui with his gunblade, rendering him immobile.
Our next mission sent us to Deling City, where president Kilman requested that the students, and Seeds of Scarlet garden help finish off the construction process of a new office building dedicated to Dyce-Net. Headmistress Scarlet had taken a personal vacation prior to this new mission, and so Altair Sunada was appointed the Headmistress for now. She bestowed Instructor Katharsis as her assistant. Once they arrived, they were warmly welcomed by the president. Scarlet's students were permitted to stay at the hotel across from the construction zone for free.
After some lessons, the students of Scarlet Garden were ready to finish the twenty two story office building. And so, for the next day or two, construction began.
On the last night of construction, when nearly everything was completed...the President also visited the site to have a few words with Katharsis and Sunada. He seemed to be acting odd towards the two, and roughly left the site soon afterwards. Suddenly, after his departure, a shot bellowed through the thick mist of the night, just afterwards, a student was shot from the top of the building. A massive spray of gunfire errupted through the night, killing and injuring innocent SeeDs and students. Just when the gunfire ceased, an explosion knocks the building onto a slant. The horrified Headmistress ordered everyone to clear out of the building. With the help of Katharsis, and other students, those who were left alive managed to escape. A second explosion ruptured the opposite side of the building, sending it tumbling to the ground. President Kilman re-appeared, and screamed at the current Headmistress. He accused her of being a terrorist, and that she planned the destruction of this building. Devestated, Altair couldn't speak... President Kilman then threatened to disband her Garden.

What will become of Scarlet Garden now?

Chapter 3.8
Knock Down Drag Out War!

An utter dissapointment towards Headmistress Scarlet when she came back to hear the news of what happened. Driven by guilt, Altair Sunada and Tiera Katharsis cut the Garden free from the constraints that were put upon the Garden by Galbadian law. Upon breaking free, the Garden encountered a small Galbadian force, accompanied by President Kilman, Tusahn (Altair's ex-husband), and Hallie and Maui Nurai in the garage of the Garden. A heavy fight ensued in the garage, but the SeeDs happened to disable Galbadian's small force of officers. President Kilman turned out to be non-human, as well as Tusahn. They were just like Hallie and Maui Nurai.
The Garden soon docked at Esthar's airstation for a short break. Altair Sunada was escorted to Esthar's president by Norris Azadros. She explained what had happened back in Deling, and how she saw Galbadian's forces pulled the stunt that happened at the construction site. It seemed as though Scarlet Garden was framed. The president will offer any help neccessary for Scarlet Garden to stay alive, but until then, Altair wishes to investigate further in this, 'Starless Nights' topic which she's been hearing more and more about within the Garden. And so she decided to take a trip down to Fisherman's Horizon to investigate.

Chapter 3.9
Starless Knights!

Fisherman's Horizon seemed to be the hot spot of all of this 'starless' activities. Only a few stars remained in the heavens above as students and SeeDs advanced into the city. After a few heavy heated battles with President Kilman (He happened to be one of these monsters), Tusahn, and Thrent. Tusahn and Kilman met their demise thanks to the help of the teamwork of our students and SeeDs. Thrent battled with Maui, and ended up defecting to Scarlet Garden's cause. Maui seemed to be on the good guy's side. Eventually, all of our heroes were attracted to the dead center of Fisherman's Horizon, where thousands of monk-like beings stood, praying. They did not move, they did not speak...they just were lifeless. A few moments of silence break as these monks commit a mass suicide upon themselves, staining the solar panels of the main center of FH with their own sticky blood. A horde of demons and spirits soon interrupted everyone's aweness state.
The Ragnarok Space Station was nearly overhead.
(For those who are unaware of what the space station has to do with this: This space station was mentioned by Maui. It was their goal to wipe out everything on this planet with that space station. The end of the world, basically. Once the space station reached FH overhead, it will fire a canon upon our planet.)
A few wounded, but our heroes prevailed over these monsters. It was now the final boss, the end of the suffering. It was time to take down that space station, and take out whoever is controlling it. With newly learned magic attacks, nearly everyone pummeled the space station with their magic abilities, knocking down the ship's defenses.
Some type of portal soon transported everybody on board this space station, and behind bars. Xaio seemed to be the only one not trapped behind these bars. A dark figure stood ahead of the crowd. He somewhat resembled Xaio, but a much stronger build dominated over Xaio. This figure was Zarius, Xaio's father. Ruzah Anicol, who recently changed from good to evil, thanks to Thrent, was ordered to attack Xaio. She gave him a few swift kicks and punches to knock him down, until he used one of his test-tubes to take her down temporarily. Zarius made Maui dissapear shortly afterwards. Due to some quick thinking, some of the students managed to break Zarius' gravity barrier, and destroy a few consoles across the room, rendering the ship into a mess. The bars were removed, it was time to fight for humanity. Zarius' cannon was ready to be fired, it was only a matter of time now.
Everyone was soon transported to the top of the descending space station. The air was thin, but our hereos' spirits were thick. Blow upon blow, the opposing forces battled for what it seemed to be hours. A tug of war broke out between these two forces, as one force attempted to push the other force off the edge of the space station. In the end, everything went white as Zarius was defeated by the group. Saeko delivered the final blow with a soul based attack. Several explosions pierced through the air as our warriors fell from the space station. They were all blinded by a pure light, and a tremendous rumble shook their bones as they landed on the ground. It seemed like a long fall, but it felt like they landed on a cloud of some sort. Once everyone's vision cleared, Maui was struggling to stand, he was holding up a large pillar of light--this was the destructive beam from the Ragnarok space station! Maui was protecting us afterall. He told everyone to live on, and not to worry about the future. He also requested that his love for Rena Lanford be sent out to her, as he launched himself, and the beam back up at the space station, where it finally let out a massive explosion.

Epilouge:

Like magic, everything was restored to its former image before all of this Starless Nights thing came about. People returned to what they were doing before they were innocently slaughtered. Yet, they don't seem to hold the memory of what exactly happened. Only those SeeDs, students, and faculty who survived during Starless Nights, remember what has happened.

In the near future, the story of 'Starless Nights' was released to the public. At first it taken as a hoax, until the Garden had special evidence to prove what exactly happened. Everyone shall go down into history...Each name...each experience....each memory has been logged.
Now this story shall be told for generations to come, among the Star filled nights that await us in the future.
